want lips like this? |
Dearest readers,
Don't you hate it when you get chapped lips? I know I do and I find them extremely annoying when I wake up in the morning, ready to apply some makeup and find my lips are completely dry. Now obviously chapped lips is something everybody has gone through in their lifetime BUT if you believe you're someone who suffers from chronic chapped lips, here are some of my remedies for helping to relieve them:
1. DO NOT tempt yourself to peel anymore skin off your lips! While it's tempting to try and get rid of it (like with pimples) doing so will cause bleeding and cause even more trouble.
2. Apply some honey onto your lips. I suggest Manuka Honey because of it's beneficial healing and anti bacterial agents. Apply a smooth layer of honey onto your lips (it's ok to do it with your fingers) and let it dry for a minute. Then, apply some Vaseline ontop of your lips. If you don't have vaseline, I suggest using Lucas's PawPaw Ointment. It's a great alternative and is really soothing to the lips. Leave it on for 15 minutes and remove with a Q-Tip, that was dipped in warm water. Do twice a day for an entire week.
3. Coconut Oil is also wonderful for dry lips. Apply a small amount each day.
3. Applying a slice of cucumber onto your lips will also help chapping. I suggest you do this in conjunction with either one of the tips above as this alone will not be effective.
4. DRINK MORE WATER! Drink at least 1.2L of water a day and see the difference yourself.
5. Aloe Vera gel is also great for the lips! It has herbal benefits too. Apply liberally daily.
6. Do not be tempted to lick your lips. Saliva has properties to help digest food and is not a useful way to moisten them. While they seem wet for a while, in fact, they are stripping more water from your lips. It is useful to carry some medicated lip balm with you.
7. Do not buy cheap lip balm or "glossy" lip balms. You want an effective lip balm not one that looks great and smells great.
I hope these tips will help you. If you follow all of these tips, lip models will be jealous of you!
Have a great day and look forward to more Cure 101's!
Thank you for these tips. I notice your cure 101's are all on beauty related topics. Could you possibly do one on migraines/headaches and one possbily on cystic acne?
