Help the Homeless: True Story

What will you do?

Dearest readers,

I thought today I'd share with you my personal experience with a homeless.I was in the CBD the other day and I saw a homeless man sitting in a corner next to Flinder St Lane. He had barely any clothes on and was covered in a thin layer of meshy-fabric and old torn through shoes. Next to him was a small coin holder and a cardboard poster that said in incorrect spelling: "Please Help Me. I'm hungry." I was furious that nobody was paying attention to him. Workers/buisnessman walked past him like he was a fly or some insignificant human being. Others made it more obvious that they wanted nothing to do with this man by walking away from him or staring at him with disgust. He smelt very unhygenic but that was no reason for people to be walking away when a man needed help.

I was absolutely disugsted seeing these men and women parading around in their fancy suits and yet wouldn't spare the second to donate or help him. Sure, all of our lives are hectic and busy but show a little initiative right? At school we're always being taught about taking initiative and helping the needy and everybody agrees in theory, but in practise--it's a whole other story.

So you might have asked, what did I do? I couldn't give him a $1000 or buy him a full course meal but I felt extremely guilty just idly watching him. I had three options at that point:

a) Ignore him.
b) Walk towards him and  stare pity but continue walking.
d) Do something

I looked in my purse and found I still had $10. I thought about just handing him the $10 and walking away but I wanted to show him that I did care for his needs. So I walked into McDonalds and bought a double cheeseburger ($4) and then went to a small shop adjacent McDonalds and bought him a pair of socks ($3). I came back and walked up to him. He didn't look up. I don't think he was expecting anything. His coin holder was empty, save for a few 20c pieces. I dropped the remaning $3 in and handed him the cheeseburger and socks.

His face was a picture. He didn't say anything but I could tell from his eyes what he was feeling. I walked home that day feeling prouder than I ever was. No A+ test would have made me feel like that. I felt like I had saved someone that day.

The next day I walked past him again. He was still a homeless and I still felt bad but at least he had something to eat that day and well, he was wearing the socks I had bought him.

Things like this happen everyday. Homeless people are being disregarded all the time and it's a big issue that needs to be solved. It doesn't make you weird if you help a homeless in any way. It makes you powerful.

Cure 101: Chapped Lips

want lips like this?

Dearest readers,

Don't you hate it when you get chapped lips? I know I do and I find them extremely annoying when I wake up in the morning, ready to apply some makeup and find my lips are completely dry. Now obviously chapped lips is something everybody has gone through in their lifetime BUT if you believe you're someone who suffers from chronic chapped lips, here are some of my remedies for helping to relieve them:

1. DO NOT tempt yourself to peel anymore skin off your lips! While it's tempting to try and get rid of it (like with pimples) doing so will cause bleeding and cause even more trouble.

2. Apply some honey onto your lips. I suggest Manuka Honey because of it's beneficial healing and anti bacterial agents. Apply a smooth layer of honey onto your lips (it's ok to do it with your fingers) and let it dry for a minute. Then, apply some Vaseline ontop of your lips. If you don't have vaseline, I suggest using Lucas's PawPaw Ointment. It's a great alternative and is really soothing to the lips. Leave it on for 15 minutes and remove with a Q-Tip, that was dipped in warm water. Do twice a day for an entire week.

3. Coconut Oil is also wonderful for dry lips. Apply a small amount each day.

3. Applying a slice of cucumber onto your lips will also help chapping. I suggest you do this in conjunction with either one of the tips above as this alone will not be effective.

4. DRINK MORE WATER! Drink at least 1.2L of water a day and see the difference yourself.

5. Aloe Vera gel is also great for the lips! It has herbal benefits too. Apply liberally daily.

6. Do not be tempted to lick your lips. Saliva has properties to help digest food and is not a useful way to moisten them. While they seem wet for a while, in fact, they are stripping more water from your lips. It is useful to carry some medicated lip balm with you.

7. Do not buy cheap lip balm or "glossy" lip balms. You want an effective lip balm not one that looks great and smells great.

I hope these tips will help you. If you follow all of these tips, lip models will be jealous of you!

Have a great day and look forward to more Cure 101's!

Latte #2

Dearest readers,

Just another day watching Latte being a cute pig :)

She's been so lazy lately, she literally won't move. Although sometimes I think she's sunbathing, other times I think she just can't be bothered...and she's getting really old...but I still love her all the same! I accidentally kicked her today too (before you jump to conclusions, I was walking towards her with a huge hay bag and I didn't see her scrambling up and down my feet and well...you know the rest) but don't worry, she's absolutely fine. She continued following me around because she could smell the carrots the fresh Timothy hay as I went to feed her.

For those who still don't know, she's a free piggy! She plays in our garden during the day and at 4pm exactly, her biological clock makes her jump back into her cage!

Latte sleeping like a pig :3

Latte eating a watermelon!
Here's also a short clip I took today (which Blogger keeps rejecting) of Latte hiding in our garden and cleaning herself! I need to give her a bath as well. She is kind of dirty after playing in muddy terrains. haha!

Rotten banana's in my bag!

This nasty little fruit looks nice now....

Dearest readers,

So recently I've been super busy juggling school life and my "outside" life. I won't use this as an excuse but as a result, I haven't been cleaning out my school bag for a while. Now usually, I can't go for two days without cleaning out my bag, making sure what's in there should be in there and what's NOT in there, shouldn't be in there. Anyway, it was rather awkward today because I was sitting with my friend after school on the oval and she said my bag reeked of a foul odour. Now, at that point, I had no idea what she was talking about and assumed she must've smelt something else.

It wasn't until I got home and dumped my bag onto the ground and started searching for my calculator that my hand felt something warm and squishy. Yep, you guessed it. It was a rotten bannana underneath all my textbooks that I had forgotten to eaten days ago. It literally smelt like vingear mixed with sweat and then a fat consipated man slept on it. I don't know how I didn't notice any earlier, so I frantically cleaned it off hoping the awful smell didn't kill somebody else.

It doesn't stink anymore. It's fine. Good as new but god, I've learn't a lesson.

NEVER LEAVE BANNANA'S IN YOUR BAG FOR MORE THAN 1 DAY!!!!!

P.S I would've inserted some pictures but I decided I didn't want to give you guys a fright. It'd be better if i left it all to your imaginations.

MAC Oil Control Lotion Review

Dearest readers,

I've known for a long time that I have oily skin. It's fine when I'm at home and doing nothing but as soon as I put makeup on and get out, my face gets super shiny and it's not a good look. This plus sweat makes me look absolutely freaky! My friends tell me not to freak out and stuff but honestly, I don't like the look.

Did it live up to my expectation? Hmm

I started using the MAC Oil Control Lotion a week and a half ago. After trying a lot of oil control products, I thought I'd give this a try. The first few days when I began using it, it worked really well. I applied a couple of pumps of the lotion and it controls my oil, especially when I layer on the foundation. The design is chic and pretty and it's easy to get the product out without hassle. It also gave my skin a smooth surface to apply my makeup on. The smell is also lovely. It smells perfumey and yummy!

However after the first couple of days, I think my skin began developing an "immunity" against the lotion. My skin started producing a lot of oil again and it would get shiny within a few hours. Not only that, I began breaking out on my forehead and chin. I had two cysts on my forehead and small painful pimples on my chin. I immediately stopped using it. I've never broke out with any lotions before and to be honest I was kind of scared. I have pimples but never cysts and I began wondering if I was allergic to it?

Another negative thing I will say is although it smelt lovely, I didn't like how the smell lingered on my hands after applying it. Even after washing them, I can still faintly smell it and I didn't like it.

The price is also very high. I bought mine online at www.maccosmetics.com.au/  for $52/30ml. I will not be repurchasing this product as it is too pricey and it did not live up to my expectations in the long run. I would not recommend people buying this unless it works really well for them.

Truffles: 2005-2012. RIP

Dearest readers,

It is sad for me to say that Truffles died this afternoon. February 14th 2012.

He was sick yesterday (He had something stuck in his airways) and we were going to take him to our local vet but they were closed. I took him out of his cage this afternoon and was ready to put him in the car to take him to the vet when he began to struggle. Now I realized why. He couldn't breath. He struggled to get out of my grip and finally, he opened his mouth and died. I haven't been able to stop crying.

He was such a brave little rabbit that was an utter charm to be around. He was always with me to brighten my day and I can't tell you the amount of times I sang in front of him before an audition or performance and he'll patiently listen. I use to also tell him my troubles while he crouched down listening to me.

From the first day he arrived as a small bunny. I remember vividly the first time I saw him after returning from grade 3 camp. I knew I would love him. He was bright and bubbly and did all sorts of boyish nonsense. I will never forget the time we shared together Truffles. Having you throughout my childhood was a pleasure and I wouldn't have replaced you with anyone else.

Though you annoyed me sometimes I will never forget those precious memories we've had together. It felt like only yesterday when I was cuddling you in my arms. You were so small.

Truffles, though he may be dead will always be a hero. He has lived over so many trauma's including being chased and pinned down by our neighbours dog. Escaping out of his cage and running into the streets. Developing GI and then recovering super fast but alas, he couldn't go over his last hurdle.

I'm sorry Truffles. I'm sure heaven is awaiting you with your rabbit friends and may it bring to you everything you couldn't have this life.

Thank you for the memories. xxx

RIP Truffles. You deserve it.

May you find happiness in heaven
